Antone V. Mello

Middletown, RI - Antone Viera Mello, 59, of 102 Third Beach Road, Middletown, RI, died Monday, April 30, 2007 at the home of his brother in Tiverton, RI. Born in Fall River, MA on August 17, 1947, he was the son of the late Jessie and Hilda Viera Mello.Mr. Mello was a supervisor at the public works department for the Town of Middletown from 1968 to 2006, retiring after 38 years. Before working for the Town of Middletown, he worked for Manuel Corey as a dairy farmer and Anthony Rego Septic Company. Mr. Mello was a communicant of Jesus Saviour Church. He loved saltwater fishing and working in his vegetable garden. Mr. Mello enjoyed his pets and watching and finding his feathered friends. He is survived by his daughter Melissa Mello of Sommerville, SC, his son Jason Lesley of Sommerville, SC, his brothers Ronald Mello of Pattville, AL, Jesse V. Mello, Jr. of Portsmouth, RI, James V. Mello of Cross, SC, and John J. Mello of Tiverton, RI, his sisters Barbara Ann Soares of Tiverton, RI, and Beverly Ann Detusa of Troutman, NC, and his grandchildren Seth Mello and Kara Pringle of Sommerville, SC and several nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late Joseph V. Mello. His funeral will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2007, at 11:00 am in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be private.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, from 5-7pm in the funeral home.
