Antonio Dutra Newport, RI - Antonio Dutra, 89, of Newport, died Friday, November 18, 2005, at the Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. Mr. Dutra was the husband of Maria da Gloria Dutra whom he married in 1953.Born in Ribeira Funda, Faial, Acores on November 20, 1915, he was the son of the late Antonio Dutra Jr. and Inacia Emilia da Conceicao. Mr. Dutra was a roofer with Newport Roofing Company of Newport until his retirement in 1975. Mr. Dutra was a member of Jesus Saviour Church, Newport. He enjoyed saltwater fishing especially around Ocean Drive and tending to his vegetable garden. Mr. Dutra was often seen riding his bicycle with his dog ?Mr. Clean? accompanying him in the handlebar basket. He is survived by his wife Maria daGloria Dutra, of Newport, RI, a daughter Maria Isaltina Portela, of Newport, RI, and six Granddaughters: Anne Portela of North Providence, RI, Rosemary Portela, Julie Portela, Jeanie Portela, Elizabeth Portela, and Victoria Portela; all of Newport, RI. Mr. Dutra was the brother of the late Francisco Dutra, Jose Dutra, Manuel Dutra, Maria Marques, and Roselina Silveira. His funeral will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at 8:00 am, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway Newport, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway And Vernon Avenue, Newport, RI. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 22 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm in the funeral home.
