Arlene Barbara Ponte

Arlene Barbara (Christensen) Ponte, 88, of Newport died Friday, February 5, 2016. Born on October 13, 1927 in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Margarite (Dunbar) Christensen and Gwen (Kent) Christensen. She was a 1945 graduate of St. Catherine's Academy. She was a manager at the Newport Creamery for years.She was the wife of Joseph C. Ponte of 68 years, she is survived by her son Joe Ponte and his wife Beth (Gerrie) Ponte of Newport, Grammy to her beloved granddaughters; Capri and Angellina Ponte of Newport, sister of Arnold Christensen and his wife Jan of Texas, Andrew Christensen and his wife Mary of Newport, Freddie Christensen and his wife Joanna of Arizona and Wally Christensen and his wife Kathy of Middletown, RI and many nieces and nephews.A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 11am in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will be private.
