PORTSMOUTH, RI ? Arlene O?Neill Hurley, 85, of 42 Clearview Avenue, Portsmouth, RI, died Wednesday, September 7, 2005, at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. She was the wife of Edward R. Hurley. Born in Blackstone, MA on January 28, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Thomas C. and Elizabeth Bentley ONeill, and was the only surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Hurley was a member of the Portsmouth Senior Citizen Center, the Museum of Newport Irish History and the Rhode Island Historical Society. She was a Communicant of St. Barnabas Church. Arlene enjoyed cooking and listening to music. Besides her husband of sixty five years, she is survived by her daughters Susan Hurley and Patricia Peckham both of Portsmouth, RI, her son John Hurley of Centennial, CO, two grandsons Andrew and Connor Peckham of Portsmouth, RI and two granddaughters Molly Lily Hurley of Centennial, CO. She was the sister of the late Thomas ONeill, William ONeill, Mary Lemay, Esther Jones and Madonna Duggan. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2005, at 9:00 AM from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM, in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 9, 2005, from 4-7pm in the Connors Funeral Home.
