Arlene Mary (Lynch) Blake, passed away on March 21, 2016, surrounded by her family in Fall River Massachusetts at the age of 86 years.She leaves five children, Colleen Hitchings of North Kingstown, RI, Cathy Charbonneau of Fall River, MA, William Blake of Tiverton, RI, Kevin Blake of Tiverton, RI, and Jeffrey Blake of Portsmouth, RI, eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, William Blake and her parents, Louis and Mabel LynchArlene was born on July 1, 1929, in Waterbury, Connecticut.She graduated from Our Lady of the Elms College with a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry and later earned a Masters Degree from Bridgewater State College. Arlene worked as a rubber chemist at Firestone Rubber Company in Fall River, MA for several years and later became a chemistry teacher at Middletown High School. She shared her love for learning and passion for science education with all who knew her. Arlene was a life-long member of the Saint Anthonys parish in Portsmouth. She was an avid gardener and skilled crafter. She was a long time member of the Town Howlers square dance club in Portsmouth and the Aquidneck Island Craft Association. She leaves behind a legacy of love and family.A funeral mass is scheduled for Monday, March 28th at 10 am in Saint Anthony's Church, Portsmouth, RI, followed by a private burial at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River, MA.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scholarship in her name at the Rhode Island Nurse Institute Middle College, 150 Washington Street, Providence, RI 02903.
