Newport, RI ? Arnold J. Wayne, 78, of 47 Warner Street Newport, died Friday, April 1, 2005 at Heatherwood Nursing And Subacute Center Newport, RI.He was the husband of Carrie B. Williams Wayne. Born in Brooklyn, NY on December 15, 1926, he was the son of the late Chester Agnes Middleton Wayne and the stepson of the late Estella Wayne. Mr. Wayne was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the United States Navy as seaman second class. During World War II, he received the World War II Victory Medal and the American Area Campaign Medal. He also served in the Korean War in the South Pacific. Mr. Wayne was in the service for 4 1/2 years. He worked at the Newport Hospital as a first cook and chef for twenty two years and also for Paul Eddies Restaurant for six years and the 200 Club on Broadway. Mr. Wayne was also employed at the Newport Public Works Department, the Naval Base and at the Newport Preservation Society as a security guard for several years. He was a member of St. Joseph?s Church. Besides his loving wife he is survived by his children, Estella Miller of Middletown, RI, Grace Dore of North Kingstown, RI, Pamela Woodson of Virginia Beach, VA, William Donald Wayne of Providence, RI, and Robert Gordon Wayne of Sacramento, CA, thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and many neices and nephews.
