Portsmouth, RI - Arthur D. Bancroft, 75, of 118 Rolling Hill Road Portsmouth, formerly of Dartmouth, MA, died Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at home.He was the husband of Claire Rocheleau Bancroft. Born in Acushnet, MA on June 5, 1929, he was the son of the late Arthur D. and Theresa Murray Bancroft. Mr. Bancroft was the owner of REMINC CONTI Fasteners and marketed Trilobular? fastener technology throughout the world. He also served as President of the Continental Screw Company of New Bedford, MA and spent 58 years in the fastener industry. He was a member of St. Anthony Church in Portsmouth, RI. Mr. Bancroft was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling the world. Besides his wife he is survived by a son Stephen P. Bancroft of South Dartmouth, MA, three daughters Carol A. Verrochi of Berkley, MA, Diane M. Zuspan of Boonsboro, MD, and Laurie J. Mandly of Portsmouth, RI, five brothers Robert C. Bancroft of West Barnstable, MA, J. Richard Bancroft of Lakeville, MA, David Bancroft of Mattapoisett, MA, John Bancroft of North Dartmouth, MA and James Bancroft of Somerset, MA, nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late William and Paul Bancroft. His funeral will be held on Monday, November 22, 2004, at 9:00AM from the Connors Funeral Home 55 West Main Road Portsmouth, RI, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Haitian Health Foundation, 97 Sherman Street, Norwich, CT 06360 or to the Meeting Street School, 667 Waterman Avenue, East Providence, RI 02914.
