Arthur Edward (Bucky) Buckley Jr. died last week from complications after surgery. Buck was a gentleman and a gentle man and we will all miss him very much. He was born and raised in Fall River, MA by his parents Arthur and Aurora Buckley. Buck was educated in Fall River Public schools and graduated from Durfee High School. He married and raised his first family in Fall River.Bucky developed what would be his life long love of golf as a boy of 7 while caddying at the Fall River Country club. He would play till his legs gave out and was a member first at Fall River and then at Montaup Country club in Portsmouth, RI. He served in the US Coast Guard during World War II, was wounded and was awarded the Purple Heart.Buck graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Engineering. Out of college he worked first for WBZ Radio and the Red Sox and then MIT Lincoln Labs, from which he eventually retired. During his career at MIT Buck worked on engineering projects that were used by NASA in the US space program.He is survived by the son of his first marriage, Arthur Buckley of Houston TX, his wife Mary-Jo Buckley and a list of extended family and friends too long to mention here.A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 24TH AT 10:00 AM AT ST. JOSEPH'S CHURCH, 1335 NORTH MAIN ST, FALL RIVER, FOLLOWED BY A GATHERING TO CELEBRATE BUCK'S LIFE FROM NOON TO 3 PM AT MONTAUP COUNTRY CLUB, 500 ANTHONY ROAD, PORTSMOUTH, RI.
