Arthur John Escallier

Middletown, RI - Arthur John Escallier, 75, of 6 Concord Drive, Middletown, RI, died Friday, February 6, 2009, at home with his family. He was the husband of Catherine Myrtle Gilman Escallier. Born in Elsinore, CA on June 23, 1933, he was the son of the late John Arthur and Angelina Quintana Escallier.Mr. Escallier was born and raised in California. He joined the Navy in California and retired in Newport. After retiring as a Chief Petty Officer, Mr. Escallier worked in the boiler plant at the Navy Base. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve and a Cub Scout Leader. Mr. Escallier was an avid fisherman and hunter. Besides his wife of nearly 54 years, he is survived by his son John E. Escallier, and his wife Barbara, of Port Jefferson, NY, his daughter Carol Sherman, and her husband, William J., of Middletown, RI, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. His funeral will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2009, at 12:00 pm, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial with full military honors will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 12 from10am-12pm in the funeral home.
