It is with great sadness that the family of Athena Petropoulos, 91, of Newport, RI announces her passing on August 5, 2021. Born in Newport, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Stamo (Gallas) Spiratos.
Athena enjoyed 60 years of marriage to the late Peter Petropoulos.
In her early years, Athena graduated from Rogers High School. She attended Lasalle Junior College graduated with an associate degree. She worked in the family business for many years.
She attended St Spyridon's Church where she was actively a member of the Philoptochos Society.
Athena is survived by her nieces and nephew: Sandra Kane Fort Lauderdale, Fl (Damien Kane and Chanelle Kane McClure )Elaine Kane ( Peter Deleo))of Dania Beach Fl, Valerie St Peter, Christy Petropoulos, Cindy DeAngelo, Krista Petropoulos and her cousin George Spiratos .
She is predeceased by her husband, Peter Petropoulos, her parents, Nicholas and Stamo Spiratos and her sisters Kiki Adele Kane and Helene Spiratos.
Burial will be graveside Thursday, August 12th, 2021 at 11AM at Island Cemetery, 30 Warner Streeet, Newport, RI 02840. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Philoptochos of St Spyridon Church, 390 Thames Street, Newport, RI.
