Augustus P. Pine

MIDDLETOWN, RI - Augustus P. ?Gus? Pine, 83, of 417 Forest Avenue #218, Middletown, RI died Monday, January 16, 2006. He was the husband of the late Bertha Arsenault Pine. Born in Middletown, Rhode Island on May 28, 1922, he was the son of the late Manuel and Mary Pasqual Pine.Mr. Pine served in The United States Army in Europe during WWII. He worked as a truck driver in construction for Peckham Brothers for 9 years and also for John Toppa and Cardi Corp. for 35 years. Mr. Pine was a member of the Teamsters Union and Retirees Club in East Providence #251. He is survived by his children Augustus R. Pine of Fairport, NY, Henry A. Pine and Arthur F. Pine both of Middletown, RI, and Carol Hahn of Portsmouth, RI, eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers Manuel Pine, Frank Pine, Henry Pine, and Joseph Pine.His funeral will be held on Friday, January 20, 2006 at 9:00AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport, RI. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2006 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM in the Memorial Funeral Home.
