Axel C. Weiderman

Newport, RI - Axel C. Weiderman, Jr., 73, of 4 Ernest Street, Newport, RI, died Monday, March 26, 2007 at home with his family. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Ann Walker Weiderman. Born in Gloucester, MA on November 21, 1933, he was the son of the late Axel C. and Gladys Walker Weiderman.Mr. Weiderman was a dockmaster for the former Newport Shipyard for over 30 years. He served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne in the Korean War. Axel was a member of the All Vets in Middletown and a life member of the 82nd Airborne Division Association. He is survived by his son Michael B. Weiderman and his wife Lisa of Newport, RI, his grandsons John T. Weiderman of Portsmouth, RI, and Michael C. Weiderman of Newport, RI and two great grandsons. His funeral will be held on Friday, March 30, 2007, at 1:00pm, in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial with military honors will be in Middletown Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2007, from 5-8pm in the Memorial Funeral Home.
