Barbara A. Carney

Middletown, - Barbara A. Brennan Carney, 73, of 333 Green End Avenue Middletown, formerly of Kay Boulevard Newport, died Saturday, October 26, 2002 at Grand Islander Health Care Center Middletown, RI.She was the wife of the late Vincent P. Carney. Born in North Attleboro, MA on September 26, 1929, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Wilson Brennan.She moved to Newport in 1967. Mrs. Carney graduated from North Attleboro High School in 1946 and went on to graduate from Bryant College in 1948. She worked for St. Georges School and Salve Regina University before working as a secretary to the Mayors Office at Newport City Hall, retiring from City Hall in 1995. Mrs. Carney enjoyed her piano, reading books and doing cross word puzzles, and traveling with her lifelong friends. She is survived by her son V. Paul Carney of Brewster, MA, two brothers Robert Brennan of Woodbridge, VA, and John ?Jack? Brennan of Sun City, FL, her sister Mary Jones of Skokie, IL, one granddaughter Christin Bowman and one great grandchildren Robyn Bowman of Cape Cod, MA. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday October 30, 2002, at 9:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway Newport with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am in St. Josephs Church, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery in Blackstone.
