Barbara A. Maisen

Barbara A. Maisen, 68, of Evergreen Drive, Portsmouth, RI, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at home with her family at her side after a 14 year battle with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.She was the wife of Edwin P. Maisen.Born in Newport, RI on April 30, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Morton "Pete" and Florence E. (Crowe) Weaver.Mrs. Maisen received her Associate's Degree from Bristol Community College and her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Roger Williams University. She took immense pride in her 30 years of employment as a registered nurse; working for Charlton Memorial Hospital, Visiting Nurse Services of Newport Bristol Counties and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of RI. Barbara's great joy in life was her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed summer evenings watching Red Sox baseball, especially the banter between NESN broadcasters Jerry Remy and Don Orsillo. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, James C. Simon and his partner, Ahmed Heikal, of Providence, RI, Matthew R. Maisen and his wife, Mackenzie, of Newport, RI, and Ryan C. Maisen and his wife, Erika, of Tiverton, RI; her daughter, Ashley E. Botelho and her husband, Michael, of Portsmouth, RI; her step-daughter, Angelina Cook and her husband, Dan, of Tiverton, RI; and nine grandchildren, Joel, Nadia, Kaleigh, Lucas, Ethan, Kyleigh, Aidan, Amber and Kyle.
