Barbara C. Mccarthy

Portsmouth, RI - Barbara Cherry McCarthy, 65, of 55 Almeida Terrace #16, Portsmouth, RI, formerly of 427 Bristol Ferry Road, died Sunday, February 8, 2009 at home with her family by her side. She was the wife of Harry X. McCarthy. Born in Providence, RI on June 29, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Helen Kerney Cherry.Mrs. McCarthy worked as an Administrative Assistant for Raytheon for 26 years, retiring in 2005. She also worked as an executive secretary to the president for Newport National Bank for many years. Mrs. McCarthy attended St. Anthonys Church. She enjoyed swimming and being in the sun, she enjoyed nothing more then spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter, friends and her dog Maya. Besides her husband of 43 years, she is survived by her son Ryan J. McCarthy of Peabody, MA, her daughter Shannon Condon of Tiverton, RI, her brother Joseph Cherry of Bradenton, FL and her granddaughter Eilish Ryan Condon.Her funeral will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2009, at 9:00am, from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am, in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, from 4-7pm in the funeral home.
