Barbara Frances Gibson, 91, of 342 Boulevard Middletown, died Saturday, January 24, 2004 at home. She was the wife of the late Harold Tillinghast Gibson, they were married for 58 years. Born in Newport, RI on September 26, 1912, she was the daughter of John P. and Mary Sullivan. Mrs. Gibson graduated from the former St. Joseph?s High School. Mrs. Gibson was a homemaker and caregiver of her son Michael for 58 years. She also worked for Nunes auto dealership for 9 years as a bookkeeper. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and a former member of the Newport and Middletown Senior Citizens Centers. Mrs. Gibson was a member of the De La Salle mother?s club and was a den mother for the Cub Scouts in Middletown. She also volunteered for the canvassing authority in Middletown. Over the years she enjoyed bowling, birdwatching and boating with her husband on the powerboat he built, the Barbara Frances. She is survived by four sons Harold T. Gibson of Pawtucket, RI, Peter D. Gibson, Michael O. Gibson and Shaun A. Gibson all of Middletown, RI, and two daughters Barbara Ripa of Middletown, RI, and Mary E. Destremps of Newport, RI, eleven grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a brother Eugene M.P. Sullivan, and three sisters Anna E. Sullivan, Julia Sheehan, and Mary V.
