Barbara L. Silvia

Middletown, RI - Barbara Louise Souza Silvia, 82, of 1511 Green End Avenue, Middletown, RI, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009 after a short illness.She was the wife of Raymond J. Silvia for 62 years.Born in Newport, RI, on March 19, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Laura Louis Souza.Mrs. Silvia was a lifelong homemaker, raising her three children. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to Canada and throughout the US, making her winter home in Pompano Beach, FL for over 20 years. Survivors beside her husband are her two daughters Deborah Gillis of Georgia and Catherine Silvia of Middletown and her son Raymond Silvia, Jr. of Middletown, her sisters Carolyn Almeida and Dorothy Silvia of Middletown, a brother William Souza of Newport, a grandson USMC LCpl Richard Williams and numerous nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Edward and Raymond Souza. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2009, at 10:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport.Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 17, 2009, from 4-7pm in the funeral home.
