Newport, RI, Barbara (St. Thomas) Keech Luistro, of 8 Congdon Avenue, Newport, RI, died Saturday, July 21, 2012, at the Newport Hospital. Born in Newport, RI on April 19, 1932, she was the daughter of the late George and Agnes (Salley) St. Thomas.Barbara worked as a waitress at the International House of Pancakes for 30 years, retiring in 1995. She also had worked at Star Lunch, Tommy's Diner, The Pier and the Officers Club. Barbara enjoyed traveling, the beach, watching movies, going on cruises and the color yellow. She spent many nights at the local parks watching softball games. Barbara loved the Boston Red Sox, especially when they won, but even when they lost. She also loved all animals. She is survived by her children, Michael C. Keech and his wife Michelle of Lucama, NC, Debbie L. Keech and her husband John "Chief" Gomes of Middletown, RI, and Karen Keech Lavoie and her husband Roger of Fall River, MA, her granddaughter Nicole Keech and her husband Matthew Fisher and her great granddaughter Abigail Fisher, her good friend and caretaker Bob Howard, and her loving cat Salley.She was also the mother of twins-the late Daniel T. Keech (2002) and David A. Keech (2009), and the sister of the late Marie Desmarais. She was the wife of the late Gaetano (Tom) Luistro and the former wife the late Leon (Jerry) Keech.At Barbara's request, all services are private.
