Barbara R. Ainsworth

Portsmouth, RI - Barbara R. Grindrod Ainsworth, 92, of 329 Windstone Drive, Portsmouth, RI, formerly of Canonicus Avenue, Newport, died Monday, August 9, 2010 at Newport Hospital. She was the wife of the late Alfred Ainsworth. Born in New Bedford, MA on March. 26, 1918, she was the daughter of the late William and Bertha Rushton Grindrod.Mrs. Ainsworth had worked at the John Clarke Baptist Home, Newport and went on to work as a nurses aid for Visiting Nurse Services. She taught vacation Bible Study at the United Baptist Church in Newport. Among her favorite things, were cooking, sewing, attending church and reading her Bible daily. She leaves her children Stephen Ainsworth of Watervliet, NY, Donald Ainsworth of Portsmouth, RI, Lynne Winchell of Portsmouth, RI, Jean Gallant of Fall River, MA. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.She was the sister of the late Gordon Grindrod.Relatives and friends are invited to attend.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, From 2-4 and 7-9 in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. Her funeral will be held on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 9:00am in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
