, Barbara E. Reinert, 89, of Wakefield, RI, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at home surrounded by her family.She was the wife of the late William E. Reinert. Born in Newport, RI, on March 20, 1920, she was the daughter of the late C. Robert and Ellen Dwyer Lynch.Barbara was a 1937 graduate of Rogers High School and a 1942 graduate of Rhode Island State College now known as URI. She served in the Untied States Army during World War II. A lifelong Democrat, she was very active in the party during her early life, and volunteered for the Cancer Society, the PTA, and Meals on Wheels. For many years she worked at Middletown High School. She was an active member of St. Marys Episcopal Church. Barbara was also a member of the Newport Art Museum, the Audubon Society of Rhode Island, Save the Bay, the National Wildlife Society, Common Cause, the Rose Island Lighthouse Foundation, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her children, Richard P Reinert of Berthoud, CO, Carol A. Reinert of Wakefield, RI, Robert W. Reinert of E L Cajon, CA, Steven E. Reinert of Barrington, RI and William L. Reinert of Seattle, WA, six grandchildren and her niece Ellen Lynch of Middletown, RI. She was the sister of the late Robert E. Lynch. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2009, at 11:00 am in St. Marys Episcopal Church, 324 East Main Road, Rte. 138, Portsmouth.Burial will be in St. Marys Churchyard in Portsmouth.Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 30, 2009, from 5-8 in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Rte. 114, Portsmouth, RI.
