ESCONDIDO, CA - Barbara Virginia Berry-Waldon, 59, of 17701 San Pasqual Valley Road, Escondido, CA, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2008, at her home. Born in Newport, RI on May 31, 1948, she was the only child of the late Pitman R. Berry and Josephine S. Berry.Barbara worked at New Alternatives, Inc. for 12 years and was Program Director at San Pasqual Academy for the past 7 years. She was an avid reader, she loved playing the piano, and watching sports especially Football and Boxing. What she loved the most was taking care of her children and grandchildren, as well as her children at San Pasqual Academy. Barbara earned a double Bachelor Degree in Physical Education and Psychology from Salve Regina College; a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from the Rhode Island Conservatory Institute; she received her Master of Science Degree in Counseling from University of Phoenix and was honored with her Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership Degree at the University of Phoenix. Barbara was a member of MENSA High IQ Society; Escondido Rotary Club.She is survived by her husband Robert O. Waldon of Escondido, CA, her son, Michael E. Jenkins and his wife Tonya of San Diego, CA, her step-children, Kim Waldon and her life partner Rhonda of Brooklyn, NY and Dackashay Waldon of Providence, RI, her grandsons Damien R. Jenkins and Frederick Mollock III of San Diego, CA, eight step grandchildren and a host of loving friends and co-workers.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. in the Community Baptist Church, 50 Dr. Marcus F. Wheatland Boulevard, Newport.Burial will follow in Friends Cemetery.In Lieu of flowers, donations in Barbaras memory may be made to San Pasqual Academy, 17701 San Pasqual Valley Road Escondido, CA 92025.
