Barrett Sand

Jamestown, RI - Barrett Sand, 82, of 9 Marcello Drive Jamestown, RI, died Thursday, January 8, 2004 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.He was the husband of Barbara Drury Sand. Born in Schenectady, NY on August 8, 1921, he was the son of the late Ivan and Dorothy Barrett Sand.Mr. Sand served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a mechanical engineer for Turex in North Smithfield, RI, for ten years, prior to his retirement he was co-owner. Mr. Sand had worked for Celanese Synthetic Fabric Making Company an International Company in Venezeuala. He was a lifelong member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, Newport, RI and also in Boston, MA. He is survived by his wife Barbara Sand of Jamestown, RI, two sons Brian Barrett Sand of West Kingston, RI, and Jeffrey Scott Sand of Cranston, RI, his daughter Sharon Schwab of Warwick, RI, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.He was the brother of the late John Sand. Funeral services and burial are private. Donations in his memory may be made to the First Church Of Christ Scientist, 100 Touro Street, Newport, RI 02840.
