Beatrice Ann Daponte

Beatrice Ann Botelho DaPonte, 77, of Pond Ave, Newport, RI, died Sunday, October 5, 2008 at home.She was the wife of the late Antone Ferreira DaPonte. Born in Newport, RI on July 19, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Louis Botelho and Irene Pivar Botelho.Beatrice enjoyed working as a cook at the Head Start program for many years. She had a very fulfilling life with all her children, grand children, and great grand children. She was an active member of the Senior Citizens Park Holm Center. Her hobbies include playing Bingo and country western dancing. She is survived by four sons Kenneth Lowe of Cosby, TN , Anthony DaPonte of Bristol, PA, John DaPonte of Providence, RI, and Michael DaPonte of Portsmouth, RI, four daughters Irene DaPonte of Newport, RI, Cheryl DaPonte of Newport, RI, Laurie Mello of Little Compton, RI, and Jennifer DaPonte of Newport, RI; her grandchildren James Stevens Jr, Jason Lowe, Hank Souza, Joseph Souza, Joshua Lowe, John Hendricksen, Anthony Hendricksen, Renee DaPonte, Anthony DaPonte, Alyssa LaBonte, Michael DaPonte Jr., Justine LaBonte, Scott Smith, Mya Smith, and Ashley Settle, and many great grandchildren; as well as two brothers James Botelho of Portsmouth, RI, and Joseph Botelho of Riverside, RI, and two dear friends Dorothy Duart and Andree Reigert. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 8, at 8:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am in St. Josephs Church, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Tuesday, October 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 in the Memorial Funeral Home.
