Beatrice C. Rozes

Beatrice C. Mellen Rozes, 92, of 1223 Green End Avenue, Middletown, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011 at home.She was the wife of the late John A. RozesBorn in New Bedford, MA on June 22, 1919, she was the only child of the late Comes and Panagiota Sarmidas Mellen.Mrs. Rozes was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church and was active in many of the churches organizations. She worked as a confectioner alongside her father at his store Mellens Homemade Candies in New Bedford. For the past eighteen years she was affectionately known as Flo, cordially greeting customers at Flos Clam Shack.She leaves her children Komes Rozes of Middletown and Ourania Rozes of Wynnewood, PA. She also leaves her grandson Yanni Jay Rozes of Middletown and her cousin Mrs. Van Benno of West Roxbury, MA.Calling hours will be held, Tuesday, November 8 from 4-8 pm in the Memorial Funeral Home.Her funeral will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 10:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a funeral service at 11:00am in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, 390 Thames Street, Newport.Burial will follow in Middletown Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Beatrice Rozes memorial fund, St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Chruch, 390 Thames Street, Newport, RI 02840
