Newport, - Beatrice Pine Paiva 90, of 26 Harris Drive, Tiverton, died Saturday, May 31, 2003 at home. Mrs. Paiva had lived at 143 Sims Street, Newport for many years before moving to Tiverton in August 2002. She was the wife of the late John A. Paiva. Born in Portsmouth, RI on May. 8, 1913, she was the daughter of Frank Pine and Mary Pacheco Pine. Mrs. Paiva worked as a presser at Swan Cleaners and for Del Nero Laundry for many years. She was a communicant of St. Lucy?s Church, Middletown. She is survived by six sons, John Paiva of Swanton, OH, Emery Paiva of Portsmouth, RI, James Paiva of Apollo Beach, FL, Jesse Paiva of Middletown, RI, Ralph Paiva of Middletown, RI, Frank Paiva of Portsmouth, RI; four daughters, Dorothy Baich of North Port, FL, Mary Brown of Little Rock, AR, Peggy Rice of Middletown, RI, Beatrice Davis of Tiverton, RI, two brothers, Frank Pine of Newport, RI, Joseph Pine of Washington, DC; six sisters, Madeline Blanchard of Waterford, CT, Margaret Deese Wilmington, WA, Marion Amerson of Virginia Beach, VA, Hilda Silvia of Fall River, MA, Rose Sawyer of Buffalo, NY, and Elsie Hicks of Chesapeake, VA; 36 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren, and 10great-great grandchildren.She is the sister of the late Thomas Pine, Frederick Pine, Helen Racowski, Clara Taylor and Isabelle Walker.Her funeral will be held Wednesday, June 4, at 8:00 from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00am in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Service Hospice Care, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871
