Coventry, RI ? Beatrice ?Bebe? Roberta Clarke Echola, 83, of 450 Franklin Road, Coventry, RI, formerly of 172 Allston Avenue, Middletown, died Sunday, September 3, 2006, at home. She was the wife of the late Roderick Henry Echola. Born in Newport, RI, on March 29, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Isaac O. and Genevieve Murphy Clarke.Bebe was a member of Trinity Church in Newport. She was an avid reader, baker, sewer, and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.She is survived by a son Robert L. Echola of McPherson, KS, four daughters Elaine Cote of Meredith, NH, Arlene McComas of Middletown, RI, Ellen Jean Bastianelli of New Brunswick, Canada, and Deborah Laliberte of Coventry, RI, two brothers Thomas Clarke of Middletown, RI, and Russell Clarke of Newport, RI, two sisters Phyllis Bowley of Middletown, RI, and Jean Smith of Middletown, RI,, ten grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Kenneth Clarke, Charles Clarke, Waldorf Clarke, Genevieve Copsey, and baby Florence Clarke.Her funeral will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will follow at Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2006, from 7-9 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 169 George Street, Pawtucket, RI, 02860.
