Chesapeake, VA - Beatrice Yolanda "YoYo" Ayala, 75, went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 7, 2014 with her children by her side. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on April 17, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Robert Ayala and Leonor Bazan Ayala, niece of Colleta Cadena, Virginia Cadena and Frank Bazan. She is survived by son Roberto (Lisa) Ayala of Dallas, TX, daughters BernNadette Jenkins-Booker and Nadine (Herman) Jones of Richmond, VA, Kim (Anthony) Pellon of VA Beach, VA, Margaret "Terri" (Derek) Holman of Chesapeake, VA, Darlene Ayala of Middletown, RI and Neva Ayala of Stamford, CT, 24 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, brothers Robert Ayala (CA) Jesse Ayala and sister Leonor "Pilo" Ayala Molina of San Antonio, TX, uncle Arthur Bazan and aunt Otilia Valdez of San Antonio, TX, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.Yolanda served in the United States Army until 1961. She settled in Newport, RI where she worked and raised her family until she retired in 2000 and moved to Virginia to be with her grandchildren. She loved cheering them on at all their sporting events, their many academic achievements, music concerts, and other achieved goals. Yolanda loved gardening, crossword puzzles, watching all sports, and most of all, she enjoyed the many family and friend gatherings. She will be especially remembered for her selflessness and the devoted way she cared for others during their hardships. Her favorite people called her "NANA"Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 10-11:30am in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, Rhode Island followed by a Memorial Service at 11:30am. A celebration of her life will immediately follow at Green Valley Country Club. Her final resting place will be in San Antonio, Texas.On behalf of her family we would like to thank her team of Doctors, the staff of Bon Secours St. Mary's, and the Chesapeake Medi Home Health and Hospice team for their support and care of our mother.
