Newport, RI - Bellemeda Marie Lacerda Toner, 80, of 8 Pennacook Street, Newport, RI, died Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at Village House Nursing Home, Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late James Toner. Born in Portsmouth, RI on January 27, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Bettencourt Lacerda.Mrs. Toner was a bookkeeper for the Newport Hospital, Salve Regina University and the former Sheraton Islander Hotel. She is survived by her son James Toner of Waxhaw, NC, her daughter Maureen Jackson of Nashua, NH, her brothers Joseph Lacerda of Portsmouth, RI, Henry Lacerda of Middletown, RI and Francis Lacerda of Portsmouth, RI, her sisters Lucy Mee of Encinates, CA and Dorothy Baccari of Newport, RI and six grandchildren Matthew Jackson, Mark Jackson, Rebekah Jackson, Andrew Jackson, Jessica Toner and Cole Toner.She was the sister of the late Anthony Lacerda and Mary NunesA graveside service will be held on Friday, August 24, 2007, at 1:00pm, in Trinity Cemetery, East Main Road, Portsmouth.
