PORTSMOUTH, RI - Bennie Lee Youngblood, 71, of 382 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of Elena L. Monge Youngblood of Portsmouth. Born in Panola County, MS on January 19, 1934, he was the son of the late William J. and Vannie Johnson Youngblood. Mr. Youngblood served in the United States Navy for twenty one years, during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. After the Navy he worked as a security guard on the Newport Naval Base and then Bayview Estates of Portsmouth. Mr. Youngblood enjoyed his free time in his garden and keeping his cars in mint condition as well as keeping up with all his family. Besides his wife of forty two years he is survived by his daughter in-law Sui May Lau Youngblood of Coventry, RI, and his brothers Bobby Youngblood and Wayne Youngblood both of Senatobia, MS, and his sister Mary Jane Burch of Horn Lake, MS. He was the father of the late Bennie Lee Youngblood Jr., who passed away on December 11, 1997. His funeral will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2005, at 1:00 PM in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 17, 2005, from 5-7pm in the Connors Funeral Home.
