Middletown, RI - Bernadette Frances Homer Thibodeau, 62, of 25 Shangri-La Lane, Middletown, RI, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. She was the wife of John R. Thibodeau. Born in Newport, RI on November 14, 1945, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Edith Myers Homer.Mrs. Thibodeau worked as a Food Demonstrator at B.J.S Wholesale Club until she retired in December. Bernadette loved spending time with family and friends and was adored by many. Her three grandchildren were her life and she was a devoted Nana. Bernadette loved the outdoors and spending time on Ocean Drive. Besides her husband she is survived by her son Ronald W. Dunbar, Jr., of Norwood, MA, her daughter Jennifer Riley and her husband Joseph of Portsmouth, RI, her step sons William Thibodeau of San Diego, CA and John M. Thibodeau of Middletown, RI, her brothers George Homer and his wife Peg of Harrisburg, PA, Robert Homer and his wife Alice of Newport, RI, James Homer of Newport, RI, her sisters Edith Homer of Middletown, RI and Dianne Downey and her husband Leo of Newport, RI. She was the beloved nana of The Loves of Her Heart Cameron H. and Ian J. Dunbar and Joseph T. Riley, Jr., and many nieces, nephews and friends.She was preceded in death by four brothers John Gus Homer, David Homer, William, Homer and Edward Homer. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at 8:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 4, 2008, from 4-8pm in the funeral home.
