Bernard W Hedderson, 67, of Middletown, RI, our dearly beloved brother and friend, went home to his Lord on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, unexpectedly at home in Middletown, RI. Born in Bell Island, Newfoundland, Canada on Jan. 24, 1947, he was the son of the late Bernard Hedderson and Hilda (Taplin) Hedderson Violette. He was an honor student at St. Patrick's Hall in St Johns, Newfoundland. He was a 1965 honors graduate of Rogers High School in Newport, RI. He was also a graduate of the Community College of Rhode Island's School of Nursing, graduating with honors. He worked at St. Elizabeth's Nursing Home in East Greenwich, RI for over 25 years as a Nursing Supervisor in the Alzheimer's Unit. He was a very kind, caring and compassionate person, which aided him in his work. He was an avid reader, an intellectual at best, and would always make you laugh. We love you Bernie, and we miss you terribly. He is survived by his brother, Edward Violette, his sister, Nanette Foote and her husband, Kevin. He is also survived by his nephews, Nick Violette, Derek Foote, Jesse Foote and his wife, Cherie, his sister-in-law, Jeanne Hedderson and her daughter, Donna LaChance, and her husband, Rick. He is also survived by 3 great-nephews and his special friend and companion at West House. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Hedderson and his nephew, Christopher Violette. Friends and relatives are invited to attend his memorial service on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 10:30 am in Evangelical Friends Church, 70 Bliss Mine Road, Middletown, RI. Memorial donations may be made to the Middletown Public Library, 700 West Main Road Middletown, RI.
