Middletown, RI - Bertha Maxine (Brownlee) Ruf, 90, of Middletown, entered into peaceful rest on Tuesday, February 12. 2013, and now joins her husband, parents and siblings.Born on October 23, 1922 in Wellington, KS, she was the daughter of the late Adren and Bertha Mae (ONeal) Brownlee and sibling of Velma G. Martin and Harold Lloyd Brownlee. She was the wife of the late Earl Vern Ruf, a decorated World War II veteran, who predeceased her in 1979. While she grew up in Kansas, she spent most of her life as a military wife and homemaker raising her children in Oklahoma, Texas, Hawaii and California. She lived many years in Vacaville, California before moving to Tucson, AZ and then Middletown, RI. Maxine was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and neighbor. She will be greatly missed but will survive forever in the hearts of those who knew her, including her daughters, Susan Ruf of Newport, RI, and Vicki Chandler of Tucson, AZ, her grandchildren, Skye Mendonca of Brazil and Shannon Chandler of Tucson, AZ, and her great grandchildren, Bryan, Shelby Maxine, and Kevin Mendonca.Burial will take place in June with her husband in the Vacaville Elmira Cemetery, 496 Crownpointe Circle, Vacaville, CA.
