Bertha Roggero

Middletown, RI - Bertha F. (Desjardins) Roggero, 90, of Middletown, died Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Joseph P. Roggero Sr. Born in Fall River, MA on December 23, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Lucien O. Desjardins Sr. and Emma (Dumont) Desjardins. She was a 1939 graduate of Domician Academy in Fall River, an Inspector at the former Firestone Manufacturing and sales clerk for the Sears Company, retiring in 1988. Mrs. Roggero was a communicant of St. Lucy's Church. She was a longtime member of the Catholic Daughters of America and a member of the Middletown Senior Center. She enjoyed playing bingo, bowling and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by daughter Judith Patnaude and her husband Dennis of Somerset, MA, her two sons Joseph P. Roggero Jr. of Middletown, RI, and Paul J. Roggero of Jupiter, FL, and four grandchildren: Jeffrey Simons, Jason Simons, Christopher Roggero and Chelsey Roggero and many nieces and nephews.She was also the mother of the late William and Peter Roggero and sister of the late Georgette Coulombe and Lucien Desjardins, Jr. .Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 30, 2013, from 5-8pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at 8:00 AM from Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9AM in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Friends and relatives are invited. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
