Bette Raye Cote

Middletown, RI - Bette Raye Cote, 73, of 10 Osage Drive, Middletown, RI, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer .She was the wife of the late Capt. Clarence William Cote USN, Ret.Born in Buffalo, NY on December 16, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Irene Beebe Hubbs.Mrs. Cote graduated from American University with an Associates Degree in Medical Technology and was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She worked for Family Physicians of Newport for over 15 years. She was a member of the Ladies Eleven book club and the Mosaic club.She is survived by her children, Christopher W. Cote and his wife Susan of Stafford, VA and Charon McCra of West Greenwich, RI, her grandchildren, Matthew Cote and Alicia Cote of Stafford, VA, Jessica N. Orts of Old Lyme, CT, Benjamin J. Orts of Spring Branch, TX and her great granddaughter Julia Sanger Orts and her sister Mary Ann Sandford and her husband Paul of Carlsbad, NM. Bette also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews.Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Her funeral will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012, at 11:00am in Trinity Church, One Queen Anne Square, Newport.Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Donations in her memory may be made to William Cote Scholarship Fund, Newport Community School, 740 West Main Road, Middletown, RI 02842 or to the charity of your choice.
