Newport, RI - Betty Anne Carn Lawton Reid, 82, formerly of 5 BB Rolling Green, and Warner Street, Newport, RI, died Thursday, April 29, 2004 at 226 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, RI.She was the wife of the late James Lawton and the late Donald C. Reid. Born in St. Augustine, FL on May 7, 1921, she was the daughter of the late William and Blanche Collins Carn.Mrs. Reid moved to Newport in 1964 from St. Augustine, FL. She is survived by her son James Lawton of Newport, RI, her daughter Betty Martin of Jacksonville, FL, two stepdaughters Dorothy Thomas of Norfolk, VA and Frances Heath of Norwood, MA, two sisters Maude Jean Anderson of Newport, RI and Wilhemia Arnold of Irvington, NJ, eight grandchildren, four step grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren, her daughter in-law Rose L. Lawton of Newport, RI, her son in-law James Martin of Jacksonville, FL, and two nieces Hazel Clarke Boyd Pierce of Newport, RI and Alice Williams of St. Augustine, FL.Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at 11:00 AM in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.
