Betty D. Wert

Middletown, RI - Betty D. Wert, 77, died peacefully Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the Newport Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Curtis E. Wert, Sr. Born in Mobile, AL on November 23, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester Joseph Anastasia Carmello and Mary Wiggins Carmello.Betty was a lifelong resident of Middletown. She enjoyed many years camping with her family and Monday night Bingo at the Knights of Columbus. She worked at the Newport Motor Inn for many years. Her children, grand children and great grand children were the center of her life. She is survived by her four children, Sheila Kane and her husband Michael of Portsmouth, RI, Curtis Wert, Jr., and his wife Rose of Warwick, RI, Charlotte St. Louis and her husband Richard Rick St. Louis of Griswold, CT and Shirley Seidl and her husband George of Rockville, VA, her grandchildren, Michael Kane of Taunton, MA, Dr. Myla Santiago of Pikeville, KY, Sean Kane and his wife Pam of Portsmouth, RI, Christopher Kane of Newport, RI, Mathew Wert of Fall River, MA, Meghan Wert of Somerset, MA, Christopher St. Louis and Steven St. Louis of Griswold, CT and Heather Seidl and Kathryn Seidl of Rockville, VA and four beautiful great granddaughters Ashley Smith of Portsmouth, RI, Brooke Kane of Portsmouth, RI, Skyla St. Louis of Griswold, CT and Brianna Kane of Pikeville, KY and her sister Barbara Marcucci and her family of East Haven, CT. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Amy-Lynn Seidl, her sister Beatrice Schaeffer and her brother Walter Carmello.
