Betty H. Ackerman

Betty Hodgkins Ackerman, 87, passed away October 1, 2012 at Newport Hospital surrounded by her family.She was born April 19, 1925 in Jefferson, ME, daughter of the late Earle and Meda (Sawyer) Hodgkins.She is survived by her husband of 65 years Hillie W.Ackerman of Portsmouth. She also leaves her children Wayne Ackerman of Warren, RI and Nancy Ackerman and her husband Glen D. Thomas of Orlando, FL. Betty was the grandmother of Shawn Ackerman and his wife Shannon of Bristol and their children Porter Thomas and Trinity Elizabeth Ackerman. She was also the sister of Daniel Hodgkins and his wife Connie of Kalamazoo, MI as well as several nieces and nephewsBetty was a deeply loved and admired by both her family and friends.Internment will be private.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Visiting Nurse Services Of Newport Bristol Counties, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
