Portsmouth, RI - Betty Lee Brooks Quinn, 76, of 48 Jesse Drive, Portsmouth, RI, died on Monday, March 14, 2005, at home.She was the wife of the late Capt. Jack Q. Quinn USN. Born in Marion, MI on April 5, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Arlie and Frances Katherine White Brooks.Betty was a graduate of Cadillac High School in Cadillac, MI. After graduating she attended Mercy Central School of Nursing in Grand Rapids, MI, where she received a degree as a Registered Nurse. Betty was employed as a nurse until she married in 1950. She then traveled the world with her husband through the Navy and Raytheon. Betty also worked with her husband for the Portsmouth Rotary Club and was involved in many fund-raisers. She was awarded the Paul Harris Award from the Portsmouth Rotary Club for her charitable efforts. On June 30, 1980 the late Humphrey J. Donnelly III, former Mayor of the City of Newport, RI, set aside this day to pay tribute to Captain Jack Quinn and his wife, Betty, prominent members of our Naval community since his assignment here in 1972. He called upon all the citizens of Newport to join him in this salute and express to them our sincere appreciation for the part they have played in strengthening the existing friendship between the people of the City of Newport and the United States Navy, and further convey to them and their family all good wishes for a long and happy retirement.Mrs. Quinn is survived by her loving children Cindy Farley and her husband Dean E. Farley of Germantown, MD, Timothy P. Quinn and his wife Mary Geerling Quinn of Virginia Beach, VA and Jeffrey M. Quinn and his wife Joanne Dollymore Quinn of Drexel Hill, PA, her foster daughter Van Borges of Westminister, CA, her brothers and sisters Terry Brooks of Kingman, AZ, Thomas Brooks of Grayling, MI, Jo Anne Bunker of Santa Clara, CA, Bonnie Lou Leach and Sally Jean Elliott both of Travers City, MI, eleven wonderful grandchildren Courtney E. Quinn of Virginia Beach, Ryan P. Quinn of Key West, FL, Jonathan T. Quinn of Virginia Beach, VA, Kelley C. Quinn of Arlington, VA, Tracey J. Quinn, Molly C. Quinn and Conor J. Quinn all of Drexel Hill, PA, Kristen Q. Farley and Megan J. Farley both of Germantown, MD, John and Nicole Borges both of Westminister, CA and several neices and nephews.She was the sister of the late Timothy Brooks.
