Middletown, RI - Betty M. Wagner Linville, 81, of 191 Forest Avenue, Apt. 101, Middletown, formerly of 2 Admirlty Drive, Middletown, RI, died Sunday, October 17, 2004 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI, peacefully in the company of her family.She was the wife of the late Captain James C. Linville, USN, Retired. Born in Rochester, NY on September 6, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Harold C. and Edna M. Mitchell Wagner. She was a longtime resident of Newport, RI.Mrs. Linville graduated from Rochester General Hospital School of Nursing. She served as an ensign in the Navy Nurse Corp during World War II, at the Newport Naval Hospital, where she met and married her husband. In the 1960s she worked as a registered nurse in private duty in Newport. Mrs. Linville attended URI in the 1970s. She is survived by three sons James C. Linville Jr. of Vienna, Austria, Richard A. Linville of San Ramon, CA, and Robert C. Linville of Littleton, CO, two daughters Lani M. Linville of Decatur, GA, and Catherine J. Linville Aten of Middletown, RI, her sister Marie W. Todd of Rochester, NY, ten grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces, nephews and cousins.She was the sister of the late Raymond Wagner and Harold Wagner Jr.A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2004, at 11:00 AM in the Hambly Funeral Home Brick House, 30 Red Cross Avenue, Newport. Burial will take place on October 29, 2004, at 9:00AM in Arlington National Cemetery, in Arlington, VA.
