Beverly A. Stedford

Newport, RI - Beverly A. Monteiro Stedford, 64, of 33 Chapel Terrace, Newport, RI, died Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. She was the wife of Oscar C. Stedford. Born in Newport, RI on March 1, 1944, she was the daughter of the late John and Jennie Pena Monteiro.Mrs. Stedford worked at the Village House Nursing Home, and she previously worked as a Postal Carrier on the Newport Navy Base, and for Sodexho in food service. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Beverly enjoyed fishing and loved nothing more than being with her family.Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Christopher Stedford, Dorothy Whiting, Raymond Stedford, Beverly M. Stedford and Oscar J. Stedford all of Newport, RI, her son-in-law Craig M. Whiting, her daughter-in-laws Lisa Stedford and Catherine Stedford; her sisters Juliann Anderson of Newport, RI and Denise Keesee of San Diego, CA, fourteen grandchildren, one great granddaughter and her companion Marion Aguilar. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and a cousin Joan Ramos of Newport.She was the mother of the late Cleveland Stedford and the sister of the late John A. Monteiro, Manuel Joseph Monteiro and Russell L. Monteiro. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2009, 11:00 am in Community Baptist Church, 50 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Boulevard, Newport. Burial will be private.Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2009, from 9:00-10:30am in the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.
