CAREY, Billie H., 73, of Bristol, RI, formerly of Portsmouth, RI, and Seekonk, MA died after a courageous two and a half year battle with pancreatic cancer surrounded by his loving family on January 12, 2010. He was born in Texas, the son of the late Harold and Lorene Carey of Irving, Texas. He has a late brother, James M. Carey of Irving, Texas and a surviving brother, David Carey of Washington State.While attending college in Texas, Mr. Carey enlisted in the United States Navy for four years. At one time he was stationed at Quonset Point, RI. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Johnson and Wales College. He was then employed at Texas Instruments as an engineer, retiring after 35 years. After his retirement, Mr. Carey worked part-time at Clements Market in Portsmouth, RI. He also was very busy attending his grandchildrens baseball games, dance recitals, soccer games, and concerts.Mr. Carey is survived by his wife Ann Kilroy Carey and his mother-in-law, Mary Amaral Kilroy. he is also survived by his children; Attorney Maryann Carey Murphy her husband Don, and grandsons Matthew and Brian of Portsmouth, RI; son Dr. Michael S. Carey and wife Beth, of North Attleboro, MA along with grandchildren, Aidan, Catherine Mae, and Liam; and daughter Sharon Carey Cayer and husband Michael of Seekonk, MA and granddaughter, Sydney.His funeral will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 9:45am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street in Bristol, Rhode Island. The burial services will be held at North Burial ground at the Cremation Garden in Colt State Park at Peters Pond in Bristol, Rhode Island.Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 15, 2010, from 5-8 in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, Rhode Island, 02904
