Born in Newport, RI on May 7, 1962, he was the son of Hazel Greene Gaines of Newport, RI and the late Robert B. Gaines Sr. He is survived by his family Hazel B. Greene Gaines of Newport, RI, Robert B. Gaines, Jr. of Middletown, RI, and Bruce Gaines of Newport, RI, Douglas M. and Tamara A. Bernard of Quincy, MA, Malik L., Martin D., and Jacqueline H. Gaines of San Pedro, CA.He was preceded in death by Robert B. Gaines, Sr., Judith A. Gaines Bernard and Cheryl A. Gaines Williamson.A graduate of Rogers High School, Brett attended Bridgewater State College. He pursued a highly successful career in Hotel Management. He was well-respected and cherished by his relatives, colleagues and friends. Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 30, 2010, from 4-7 pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.His funeral will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at 10:00 am in Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn Street, Newport.
