Calvin P. Ford, Jr

Middletown, RI - Calvin P. Ford, Jr., 79, of 417 Forest Avenue, Middletown, RI, formerly of 15 Cathy Circle, Portsmouth, died Monday, March 29, 2010 at Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, RI. He was the husband of Deronda Hart Ford. Born in Newport, RI on November 30, 1930, he was the son of the late Calvin P. and Henrietta McDonald Ford.Cal worked for 20 years as a country club manager at Wanumetonomy Golf and Country Club. After retirement he drove for RIDE for 12 years. He was a member of the North End Club for 50 years, active with the National Guard for 21 years. He loved his job at Wanumetonomy and made many friends as the driver for the RIDE program. Calvin enjoyed traveling and Red Sox Fan. Besides his wife of 57 years, he is survived by his daughter Deborah Creeden and her husband Dan of Portsmouth, RI, his granddaughter Vanessa Borges of Goffstown, NH, and his grandson Julius J. Borges IV of Newport, RI. His funeral will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2010, at 11:00AM, in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.Burial will be private.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2010, from 5-8 in the funeral home.
