Cara Lynn Turnbull, 57, of Middletown Rhode Island, died on March 1, 2025 following a long illness. She was the loving wife of Michael Turnbull of Middletown. Born in Fall River, MA on November 19, 1967, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Madeline (Raposa) Escobar.
Cara found an early love of the beach growing up in Portsmouth only a short walk to the shore. She spent hours at the beach any day she could. This love of the beach continued into her adulthood and she could be regularly seen at Second Beach during the summer months. Cara graduated from Bishop Connolly High School in Fall River and received a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Worcester Polytech Institute. Following graduation, she began her career working as a software engineer and was employed by several local defense contractors. More recently, she shifted her career to software development in support of the medical field, and was employed at Harris Caretracker for the last few years. Throughout her life, Cara loved to exercise, she could regularly be found working out at the Newport Athletic Club and, more recently, the Newport County YMCA. She would take advantage of many of the available classes and training opportunities. Even as health concerns slowed her down, she continued to try and put time in at the gym. Cara loved to receive stuffed animals and at least one could be found in most rooms of the home. She loved bunnies and was so happy living where so many were running freely through the yard. Cara loved receiving flowers of all kinds and a fresh bouquet was often in the house. Cara enjoyed eating out, and along with her husband, frequented many of the restaurants locally in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
Cara is survived by her husband Michael and cousins Stephen White of Westerly RI, Michael White of Cambria CA, Andrew White of Falmouth MA, Matthew White of Portsmouth RI, and Tracey White of Riverside RI.
Cara is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Madeline Escobar, an uncle, Anthony Escobar, and an aunt, Mary White.
