Carl B. Gustafson

NEWPORT, RI - Carl B. Gustafson, 82, of 43 Sherman Street, Newport, RI, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of Mildred Mahoney Gustafson. Born in Newport, RI on April 29, 1923, he was the son of the late Carl O. and Helen Brooks Gustafson.Carl was a truck driver for 25 years for Johnson Brothers and the former Newport Oil Company. He was a member of the Newport Kiwanis, the Viking Riders for many years and the Green Valley Country Club. Carl was an avid sportsfan, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, motorcyle riding and NASCAR racing. Besides his wife of fifty two years he is survived by his sister Helen Betty Williams of Warwick, RI, his half brother Steven Gustafson of Portland, OR, several nieces and nephews and many grand nieces and grand nephews. His funeral will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2005, at 10:00AM, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Island Cemetery in Newport.Calling hours will be held on May 27, 2005, from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home.
