Middletown, RI - Carleton Bryer Lawton, Jr., 83, of 303 Valley Road, Middletown, RI, died Friday, May 15, 2009 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI.Born in Newport, RI on March 6, 1926, he was the son of the late Carleton Bryer and Mary McCool Lawton.He graduated from Northeastern University and served in the United States Navy, during World War II. Mr. Lawton worked for Singer Keirfot in Little Falls, New Jersey as a contract administration specialist. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He is survived by his daughter Amy Lawton, Philadelphia, PA and his sister Mary Tyler of Newport, RI. His memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2009, at 2:00 pm in Hambly Funeral Home, Brick House 30 Red Cross Avenue, Newport.Burial will be private.
