Kempenaar, 83, of Boca Raton, Florida and Newport, RI passed away Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Village House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.She was the wife of the late Robert Kempenaar. Born in Newport, RI on December 16, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Nellie OConnor Crombie and James B. Crombie. She leaves one son Robert Rocky Kempenaar II of Newport and Florida and his wife Linda, three daughters, Carol Kempenaar of Delray Beach, FL and her husband Hans Cortsen, Shirley Kempenaar Petersen of Portsmouth RI and her husband Alan and Kathy Kempenaar Sundin of Florida and Newport and her husband Frederick. She was the grandmother of Vaughan Lazar, Robert Lazar and his wife Michele of Florida, Lee Kathryn DeCosta of Portsmouth, Kajsa Kempenaar of Middletown, Alexandra Healy of Newport, Trevor Healey of Florida and Monique and Chantal Gaston of Florida and the great grandmother of Phoebe Lazar, Allison Lazar, and Konnor Kempenaar Doyle.She was the sister of Mary Jean Toner and her husband Richard, the late James H. Crombie, the late Shirley V. Crombie and the late Norman D. Crombie. Sister-in-law to Mary Jean Kempenaar and the late Charles Kempenaar, the late Anna Marie and Robert Ashworth and the late Frederick and Nancy Kempenaar and the late Gloria and Osmer Bacon. She leaves many nieces and nephews.Visiting hours for Catherine will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2010, from 4-7, in the Hambly Funeral Home, Brick House, 30 Red Cross Avenue, Newport, RI.Her funeral will be held on Friday, November 12, 2010, at 8:00am, from the Hambly Funeral Home, 30 Red Cross Avenue, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am, in Jesus Savior Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport.Her burial will be private.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Village House Nursing Rehabilitation Center, 70 Harrison Avenue, Newport, RI 02840.
