Portsmouth, RI - Catherine A. Lauder of Black Point Lane, Portsmouth, RI, died Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, RI. She was the wife of the late Francis V. Lauder II.Born in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Zulmira Morinho Escubar.Catherine grew up in Newport and worked at the Naval War College as a young woman. It was at the War College that she met Francis Lauder, a Senior Chief stationed there. They married and she moved with Frank to his next duty assignment in Georgia and they began their family. Upon his retirement from the Navy, they returned to Newport and raised their 3 sons. Throughout her life in Portsmouth, Catherine was an active member at St. Barnabas Church.She is survived by her three sons Francis Veere Lauder III of Boston, MA, Michael Francis Lauder of Portsmouth, RI, and William Henry Francis Lauder and his wife Phyllis of Portsmouth, RI, and two grandchildren, William Francis Veere Lauder and Margaret Catherine Lauder.She was preceded in death by two sisters, Emily Lopes and Jane Norris.Calling hours will be held Sunday, January 8, 2012, from 4:00-7:00pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Her funeral will be held on Monday, January 9, at 9:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth.
