Catherine "Kathleen" Mchugh

Portsmouth, RI - Catherine "Kathleen" (Lyons) McHugh, 91, of Portsmouth, died Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Aquidneck Place, Portsmouth, RI. She was the wife of the late Harold Francis McHugh.Born in Corona, NY on September 2, 1921, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Catherine (Rogers) Lyons. Mrs. McHugh was a 1939 graduate of Cathedral High School and received her BA in Language from Hunter College. She worked in sales at Macys in New York City, office work for Harvester International Corp also in New York City, was a religious education teacher at St. Edward Confessor Church in Syosset, NY and part time as a packaging and distribution worker at Dermik Labs in Syosset NY. She was an avid reader who also loved watching sports, especially football (Notre Dame, NY Jets and NY Giants) and professional basketball and baseball. Mrs. McHugh was a communicant of St. Edward Confessor of Syosset, NY and St. Barnabas Church, Portsmouth, RI. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Ann (McHugh) McGue and her husband Thomas of Portsmouth, RI, her grandchildren, Nora (McHugh) Weaver of Orange, MA, Emily (McHugh) Gray of Toronto, ON, Canada, Colleen (McGue) Cloyd of Redwood City, CA, Timothy McGue of Providence, RI and Eileen McGue of North Providence, RI and many nieces and nephews.She was the mother of the late Rory Michael McHugh and sister of the late Mary P. Lyons, Margie (Margaret) Hayes, William G. Lyons and Patricia Waldron. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.Her funeral will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013, at 9:00am from the Connors Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
