Catherine Medeiros Newport, Catherine Medeiros, 90, of Newport, died Saturday, December 28, 2013 while visiting with her family.She was the wife of the late Joseph Raymond Medeiros. Born in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of the late Stavros and Mersine (Mellekas) Sologiozy.Mrs. Medeiros was a graduate of Rogers High School. She was employed by the Newport School Department for 43 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church. She is survived by her children Steven Medeiros and his wife Marlene and Suzanne Collier and her husband Kenneth. She was the loving grandmother of Melissa and her husband Michael, Allison, Erica, Katherine and Josephine as well as a devoted great grandmother of Claire and Sophie and sister of Charles S. Soliozy.She was the sister of the late Ronnie Sologiozy Cochran.Calling hours will be held Sunday, January 5, 2014 from 3-6pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI Services will be held on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 12pm from the funeral home with a funeral service 1pm at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, 390 Thames Street, Newport.
